The Peterborough Business Support Group

WHO

The Peterborough Business Support Group in Peterborough produce a number of events throughout the year to fundraise for at risk children within Peterborough and surrounding areas, including a gala dinner with a live auction.

Fundraising Challenges

In the lead up to the 2023 event, following several years of economic uncertainty, money for the NSPCC Support Group was tight. They therefore decided to run the event without using any tech platform to assist their fundraising. However, this proved problematic. As organisers of the event Anne Corder and the support group found that not having a fundraising platform limited their event. It became more difficult to access bidders for their auction items and they found that, without a platform, guest experience was affected.

So, for the 2024 dinner, the support group used the Givergy platform. This gave them access to a holistic platform designed to save them time, manage guests efficiently and ultimately raise more. The impact of using a fundraising platform was instant. The guest experience was enhanced as everything donors needed to participate with the event was held within one portal. There were also more opportunities for sponsors to advertise, and the leaderboards encouraged competition in the room which, again, added to the atmosphere of the night. Moreover, the Support Group used a sponsor to pay for the use of the platform, managing to improve the flow of their event whilst adding no extra expense!

Event Highlights

Prior to closing the auction, a guest speaker from the NSPCC addressed the audience and really touched the emotions of the crowd. That was a particularly poignant moment. It connected with the donors directly and reminded everyone of the mission in such a clear way. Overall, though, participating in an event that ran so smoothly was a moment of great pride. Everything ran seamlessly, and the excitement in the room when bids would appear on the big screen was palpable. Money had been spent on ensuring top quality audio visual for the night, there was also a professional host on stage to keep the crowd engaged. Just seeing everyone have so much fun, for such a good cause, was definitely the highlight!

Using Givergy at a fundraising event in aid of the NSPCC offers numerous benefits that can significantly enhance the event’s success. “If you’re not using Givergy, use Givergy! The event staff we had on site were brilliant, they gave advice on the silent auction, stayed until close helping with all our post event tasks and their presence meant we didn’t have to worry about the tech at all!”
