5 TOP FUNDRAISING TIPS FOR THE WORKPLACE
Many companies have programs to fundraise as part of their CSR initiatives, but there are still numerous ways individuals can contribute to raising more for great causes around the world. Here are a few quirky ideas to bring everyone together at the workplace in a fun and engaging way while raising more for your incredible cause of choice:
1. Double denim
Dress down Fridays is an ideal fundraising motivator for places with a smart dress code, such as offices and schools. Choose a day for colleagues/students to dig out their denim to dress down and donate to charity in return. There is nothing better than to end the week on a comfortable note, whilst raising vital funds for a good cause.
2. Mad Hatter Monday
Who doesn’t enjoy a cuppa with cake? A couple of bags of mini brownies and finger foods will go down a treat arranged as a mini tea party in aid of your charity. Create a Mad Hatter theme and send out a pack with essentials to decorate the table/office/classroom with on the day with a donation box enclosed.
For example, Macmillan encouraged people to host their own Coffee Morning in aid of those facing cancer. Since 1990, the Coffee Morning has raised over 138 million and last year alone Macmillan raised a staggering 25 million. Keep an eye on our Twitter account @GivergyUK as we will reveal the final amount raised this year soon!
3. Get your game on
All work and no play, so why not brighten up your day? Donate a small amount to play a game of articulate or ping pong during your lunch break. This not only is a great way to get people in schools and businesses talking and moving but will raise a substantial amount for your cause. Who wouldn’t agree to a competitive afternoon away from the desk?
4. Sponsored silence
There’s always that one person in the office or classroom who cant keep quiet. Encourage the chatterboxes to do a sponsored silence in aid of your charity. It could be for an hour, 2 hours, half a day or even for the whole day. Make it challenging! Get those taking part to use the #SponsoredSilence hashtag to generate awareness on social media to get more people involved, raising more for your amazing cause!
5. Donate your lunch money
We all part with a bit of cash all too often on lunch, so instead of spending it, why not donate it? Set a date for everyone to bring their lunch from home and donate the money that they’d usually spend on lunch to your charity instead.
Raising more for charity is always more fun when it brings everyone together. The key to hosting a successful fundraising workplace event is to make sure everyone is having fun and that the idea can be easily executed by anyone in the world!
